NHFPI’s Latest Analysis: Rising State Child Care Scholarship Enrollment

The New Hampshire Child Care Scholarship Program, supported through federal and state funding, assists families with low-to-moderate incomes with child care costs to make early care and education affordable and accessible.

In January 2024, the state implemented their increased family eligibility guidelines for the child care scholarship program. According to the New Hampshire Fiscal Policy Institute, since that expansion, enrollment in the program, which served more than 3,200 children as of June 2024, increased 21 percent.

While the increase in access is great progress for the state, and for making care available and affordable to more families, much more needs to be done before ECE will be as accessible as public K-12 education.
